"Listen, we all have the same problems, we’re all incredibly FUCKED UP. Some of us are just more upfront about it, and I’m not saying that makes us better than you… but it DOES." So goes the life philosophy of Monster, a sociopath and "thriving sex addict" who has created a bit of a haven for broken girls in her New York apartment. The girls? Cherry, a desperate wanna-be who has a nasty habit of slicing into her wrists with razorblades. Almond, a pretty, skinny girl who's anorexia issues stem from even deeper Daddy issues. And the newest recruit to "The Sisterhood" (as Monster calls it), Daisy, a "manic depressive with a hankering for sleeping pills." The Sisterhood made up of these four girls has but one rule: Be Yourself. But when being yourself leads to self harm, self starvation, and even murder, Daisy (who is also a writer) starts to asks questions of the alternative dystopia Monster has created for herself, unravelling Monster's hold over her minions, and thus unravelling the girls themselves. |
