The most famous of the Biblical harlots comes to life through a new staging of the classic text. Developed into two operas, a film, and multiple other iterations, Wilde's Salome shocked audiences with its bare portrayal of the titular character's feminine wiles and body as she seduces the King. In this revamped and modernist adaptation, author/director Robert Eric Shoemaker joins choreographer/director Shelley DeHosse in a night of debauchery, sin, and redemption. Through burlesque and dance techniques, innovative staging and tech design, as well as a text designed to challenge the original by Oscar Wilde, "SALOME: a striptease" will explore themes of feminism and empowerment, homosexuality, desire, and deadly passion.
