Joe Gallo, a New York City Police officer, wants to build a future with his pregnant girlfriend, Laura Tellnoe, in the Brooklyn home where he grew up and cared for his ailing mother and mentally disabled sister. But when he learns that his father Sal, a compulsive gambler, intends to sell the home to developers for their million-dollar offer, Joe makes a deal with some neighborhood thugs for some fast cash – one that quickly goes sour. Meanwhile, the arrival of Laura’s well-to-do parents for Thanksgiving dinner reveals that Laura has some problems of her own that mar the picture-perfect future Joe had envisioned. Joe’s obsessive sense of entitlement and denial about Laura’s troubled past lead to his inevitable demise. |
